Corduroy Comforter
Jesus calls the Holy Spirit, "the Comforter. " One thing is to know the Holy Spirit as our corduroy comforter and another is how he comforts us. By understanding how we distinguish the comfort that comes from the flesh of him that comes from Spirit. The fact is that our comfort emanates based on what we know and what we feel. Only truth prevails over feelings! And the ministry of consolation of the Holy Spirit begins with this fundamental truth: God is not angry with you. He loves you. "Hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us" (Romans 5:5). Here, the Greek meaning is even stronger than suggested in the translation, it states that God's love is "poured in torrents" in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. An unbearable burden can be caused by fear, shame, sadness, sorrows, temptations, or discouragement. However, no matter what the cause, comfort is necessary. Suddenly, you hear a voice that echoes in every corner of your soul is the Holy Spirit's voice declaring, "Nothing can separate us from the love of God. . " This truth, once you have believed, quickly becomes a torrent of living water that knocks down all obstacles. "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you all that I said unto you" (John 14:26, emphasis added).
